Conquering the Field

The girls varsity flag football team has won all of their games since their last game on May 16, while not letting their opponents score on them. On average the points scored have been 53-0 with the Bears winning.

This team shares great chemistry which helps them achieve the win. While other teams in their age group have been playing for only a year, it is the girls flag football team’s second year playing together.

Lainie Dorow, 11 is the team's top quarterback and she feels a lot of intensity during the game. She has to look for open players that are looking to score, then accurately throw them the ball, hoping they catch it. The Detroit Lions’ team informed Lainie that she will be Player of the Week for the week of May 24.

“I feel a lot of pressure when it comes to playing this position, ” Lainie said.

Charlotte Steel, 12 dodges the opponent from taking her flag so she can finish running to the endzone to score.

Meghan Postelli, 11 plays a key position on the team. She is one of the starting linebackers for the team. Another role that she plays is wide receiver. It is Meghan’s second year playing. She won the award for the Lion’s Player of the Week for the week of May 17, out of many other girls through hundreds of teams.

“I really enjoy playing football, and I always have. I joined because I would always play football with my siblings, and loved it,” Meghan said.

The flag football team will be ending their season with a final tournament on May 30. After this, the girls will improve their skills for next year's season.
