Mitch Culver carries his winning streak from the mat to the plate.
On March 9, Mitch Culver, 11 officially switched from varsity wrestling to varsity baseball for the spring sport season. Hoping to pass his winning streak from wrestling on to baseball, he has been working hard at the plate.
“Mitch has been amazing at the plate. He has 17 hits: including 4 doubles, 3 home runs, 7 runs batted in, and has 13 runs scored,” Coach Josh Mandarino said.
Out of all the runs he has made this season the run that stood out the most was the game played at Marshall.

Mitch Culver, 11 stays ready on defense, steadying his stance as he prepares himself to catch the ball.
“I hit two home runs that game; it was a great game,” Mitch said.
His teammates and coaches have been the driving force behind his never ending motivation.
“The coaches are really stressed on just knowing who you are as a player, not trying to do too much. And my teammates I think being able to lead off the line up and hit in front of Nate Schmitt and Jacob Gonzales and a bunch of other guys, knowing that they're gonna be doing their job behind has been really good throughout the year, it's been really great,” Mitch said.
Recently, he has been focusing on really keeping relaxed before and when he plays. As the MSHAA district tournament game is coming up on May 30, he holds strong on the same goal from winter: earning all state honors for baseball.
