Fashion Spotlight: Adalyn Kasuba

Senior Adalyn Kasuba dresses like she stepped out of a coming-of-age film set in 2008, describing her style as a blend of the Twee movement and early 2000s fashion. Much of her inspiration is drawn from figures like Zooey Deschanel, Pattie Boyd, and Bella Swan. She’s drawn to bold patterns, colorful layers, and playful accessories that feel both vintage and personal.

Adalyn shops at TJ Maxx and Hollister, but the central items of her wardrobe come from thrift stores, antique markets, and pieces she altered herself. Her pictured piano skirt, which she made, is one of her favorites, along with a worn pair of blue flare jeans, a white scarab bracelet, and rings she wears daily.

“I've ended up getting so used to wearing rings that if I don't wear them, my fingers feel empty,” she said.

For Adalyn, fashion is about values as much as visuals.

“I use fashion to create a wardrobe of clothes that follows my values—such as sustainability instead of fast fashion, and mood rather than following every trend I see online,” she said.

After taking a year to feel comfortable wearing her piano skirt in public, she now views her style as something softer and more unique.

“I’m pretty quiet, but with the clothes I wear, I can speak about my confidence without even opening my mouth,” she said.
