Freshman Swimmers and Divers
As the girls’ swim and dive season came to an end, freshmen Emily Bowman-Hawkins and Maizie Murphy illustrated their favorite parts of the sport and the team and reflected on their experience throughout the season.
For many athletes on the swim team, the people are an important part of the sport, and often their favorite aspect.
“I love all the people on the swim team. They’re really nice,” Maizie said. Emily had a similar response. “[The people] keep you pushing and they definitely help a lot,” she said.
Despite all the successful achievements the girls’ swim team has had, they are always striving for improvement while having a fun time, according to Emily. "It's been pretty fun and I interact more because I know more people on the team,” she said.
Adding on to the fun is getting new best times, as stated by Maizie. “I love going to meets and getting new best times,” she said.
Trying new things is a big part of the swim team. Mazie competed in backstroke and freestyle, yet she wants to try a new style next year.
“I’d like to try breaststroke, but we’ll see about it,” she said. “I’d like to get down somewhere in the 20s for my time and a 50-free.”
The girls’ swim team had a successful season with no losses and formed lots of strong relationships with their other teammates. They cannot wait for another victorious season to come next year.
