St. Joe: What’s New?

Over the years, St. Joseph has gone through plenty of changes—this year is no different. The town is filled with new stores, events, and other things to do. In the downtown area alone, two new storefronts have opened: Grant Stone Shoes, a luxury shoe shop, and Passion Project, a family-owned Mexican restaurant. Outside of downtown, there are plenty of other new establishments, including Bricks and Minifigs, a lego store.

“There’s a lot of cool new mom and pop stores around,” Nicholois Henderson, 9 said. “I like to support those more than big corporate owned companies.”

Not only have new stores opened, but old businesses have undergone change. Slackers, an existing arcade, opened their second location, Slackers Too. This new edition is not just a second arcade; instead, it is intended to bring together groups for physical games , such as Pokémon and Dungeons and Dragons, and sell cards. Additionally, Cabanas, the ice cream shop in St Joe, has changed their name to Sweet Treats, and Planks Tavern at the Inn at Harbor Shores completed a full remodel of the restaurant.

Outside of new businesses, on October 17, there will be a halloween-themed event in downtown St. Joe: the Spooktacular Parade. While it is geared toward families with children, the event welcomes people of all ages—even high school students!
