Fashion is the Best F Word

With 2022 coming to an end, I will be recapping the slay fashion trends: what is cringe and what’s cute, what has fallen out, why we are bringing back the past, and the main themes.

Let’s start with the cringe moment of this year: skinny jeans. Now, don’t feel bad if you went through this phase, everyone does at some point–some later on than others… According to Brunette from Wall Street, this was the year of baggy jeans. They were right. All around our school, people have been strutting their stuff in a nice pair of jeans with the right amount of bagginess. Though, according to Who What Wear, skinny jeans are acceptable if they are low rise. Little y2k moment.

Going off the y2k theme, Refinery 29 states that y2k took over 2022: including, baby tees, mini skirts, low rise jeans, sweat suits, flared leggings, camis, and claw clips. And, can’t forget about the accessories: chunky platform shoes, statement rings and necklaces, chained purses. Loving the blast from the past.

One trend that seriously took over this year was the iconic Lululemon Everywhere Belt Bag. According to an interview done by the New York Post, it fits a ton of items without looking or feeling bulky. Not only is it convenient, it’s also a flattering addition to your outfit. And, it comes in different colors: camo, grey, black, green, pink, purple, and white. Plus, it’s water repellent.

The theme for 2022 was definitely “more is more”.  According to Katie Eastwood, a stylist ambassador, this was the year for bright and bold colors, metallics, and really tiny or very baggy clothing. That being said, there’s nothing wrong with a sweatpant and sweatshirt moment.
